In encouraging corporations to drive towards sustainability objectives and targets, we must focus not just on changes in technology and management systems, but also on capturing the hearts and minds of their employees, customers and investors. Only then will it be possible to embed the necessary changes in corporate values and cultures. The challenge is to help individuals and companies develop cultural frameworks and decision-making processes that encourage the convergence of personal and business values. The scale of this challenge was illustrated during the Foundation’s Tenth Consultation, where a recent survey by the international student organisation, AIESEC, showed that 66% of business students thought they would sometimes be forced to do things as managers that would conflict with their personal values. The Changing Values theme will be debated at the first of a new series of Windsor Consultations in December 2001. It will have the following aims:
